Biography

Thalia Anagnostopoulos has a B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles and a Ph.D. in History from the University of California, Berkeley, where she specialized in the Late Antique and Byzantine periods and also focused on modern Greek literature and history. Her research interests include the Byzantine intellectual tradition, the formation of Greek national identity, and representations of ancient Greece in Byzantine and modern Greek literary sources.  At San Francisco State University, she teaches courses in Byzantine and modern Greek history.
